Coptic Bookbinding.

As promised, I am here to share a little about a book binding class that I attended on Sat. It is organized by a very lovely store called The Little Happy Shop. You can check out their site, they have several other classes going on and I think you will like them!

Coptic bookbinding is on my list of things to do in 2012 and I am so glad to have the chance to check it off! I am looking forward to a class on kettle binding as I missed the last run. Okay so back to the class. Joey (another SBM-er) joined me. I was really nice to be able to get to know friends on facebook in real life. Other SBM-ers who were there includes Jesslyn and Stephanie.

Our teacher, CY, came from KL just to teach us. His humour brings about a different atmosphere and we all enjoyed the process of bookbinding even though it was a bit of a challenge initially. I definitely struggled with the first 2 sets of papers but got the hang of it after I reached the third set. The feeling of exhilaration to finally complete a book of my own was great. I was telling Ruth, owner of The Little Happy Shop, that it was really a miracle to complete it! haha!

This was my first attempt. A little loose at the bindings, need to work on the tightening. Overall, am please with my finished handmade book. (: I practiced again last night and binded a second book, complete with fabric covers and all. This time round, my sister commented also that the bindings were much much tighter than the first one. Yay! Practice makes perfect. I will keep practicing!
