Purple Pumpkin's June Sketch Challenge.

Being enthusiastic as I was this month, I wanted to take part in sketch challenges again. Have always loved working with sketches and so when Jules posted about Purple Pumpkin's June challenge on Facebook, I thought why not? (:

Here's the sketch by Debbie Burns, Purple Pumpkin:

 And here's my take:

I adore the Herrington Bone pattern and I wanted to incorporate that into this layout in the background. I drew the pattern on white cardstock and painstakingly (haha! the woes of not owning a cameo) cut out the patterns using my trusty pen knife before sticking the coloured papers behind the empty cuts. I loved how it turned out and I love the colours from Dear Lizzy's papers.

It was great fun to put this layout together and I am gearing up to craft more. I'm thinking of a mini album next!

Thanks for looking! Have a blessed weekend!

June Challenges on Scrap with V!

Yesterday I pretty much had a meltdown mentally & emotionally, due to work and all the itty bitty insignificant things.

This morning, I woke up feeling the aftermath of yesterday's meltdown but recovered from it a little, keeping my head clear of those unhappy things. Whatever that has happen will not put a damper on my weekends, it just isn't worth it.

I am going to catch Snow White & the Huntsman today to put my mind at some rest. Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth; two of my favourites in the same movie, a must watch.

Apart from my gibberish above, heh, sharing 2 layouts for June'sketch challenge & inspiration challenge on Scrap with V's blog.

May Challenge Layouts

Month of May has finally decended upon us. Things have been good despite the busyness, upbeat almost, always something or another to look forward to which is a good thing. Not complaining heh. ;)

Having just returned from a trip to Bangkok, I am still adjusting to being back at work, in the usual routine and of course, getting my head back into crafting. The holiday was much needed for me, to put down every commitment on my list and just have fun doing nothing but eating and shopping. I particularly enjoy the floating market & fireflies spotting. So now, counting down and planning for my next destination: Taiwan! Target date: Oct 2012. Yay!

On the crafty side, I have 2 layouts to share for this month. One's for DT's Inspiration Challenge and the other for DT's sketch challenge:

Lily Bee Sketch Challenge #7 winner!

I am absolutely thrilled to be picked winner for Lily Bee Design's Sketch Challenge #7! Thank you Lisa, the news totally made my day!

Looking forward to receiving Lily Bee goodies! (:

Other than that, my weekends went pretty well. Spent a Saturday at the Jurong Bird Park with dear and some friends. I found out, much to the amusement of the rest, that I have a thing for free roaming birds. I get excited when I see some "exotic" looking bird walking pass me. Disclaimer: any bird that doesn't look like sparrows, mynahs or crows are exotic to me. :p

Feasted at this pretty famous thai food joint called Tom Yum Kung Fu, had a cup of iced mocha, a slice of warm chocolate cake after that and chilled out at this jetty near the Singapore Flyer until it was time to head home.

I am still trying to use up my crate paper stash to make way for the new collection haha. But I must declare, that Random Collection is my favourite favourite collection out of all the collections. I am just so taken to the colours, the chipboard shapes, the designs, literally everything! So tempted to stock up but I will resist. :p

The challenge will close at 11:59pm on the 31st March 2012.

Please send your completed layouts to scrapbookkitswithjules@gmail.com

The winner will be announced early April, and will receive a RAK of goodies

Recently, I am back to having a thing for G45's Once Upon a Springtime. I wanted to buy that collection then when it was freshly launched but for some reason, I missed it and the collection was no longer available in stores. Very tempted to preorder the collection. Should I? Why do I have this feeling that it might happen? teehee.

On another note, my term with Scrap with V has been extended for another 6 months! YAY! *waves pom poms* It has been awesome working with the team and Jules. Jules is a very very understanding coordinator & boss! When I was ill for awhile and unable to make the deadlines, she was so understanding and patient. I am very blessed indeed. Thanks Jules! So yes, I will put in my very best and continue creating!

Have a blessed weekend! (:

Scrap with V's Oct Sketch Challenge is finally up! Stand to win a limited edition kit when you join us!

Oct's sketch is by our very own DT member Amy Bender!

And here's my take:

I was pretty bold for this LO. I saw what Shimelle did with her paints on her LO and decided to jump right out of my own comfort zone and boldly painted a black frame on my papers. I was scared just so you know haha, i like clean layouts normally, and this black frame was anything but clean hehe. the experience was good. I need to push myself in order to grow and to learn. Used mostly Jilibean's Sour Soup papers here, a hambly screen, and some washi.

Love my washi tapes, been collecting them and my collection's growing beautifully. (I make them sound like plants haha)

Some closeups of the LO:

(decided to keep the chipboard alphas raw and i gave them some texture using clear crackle paint.)

Get your entries in to Jules before the end of October. Please send your layouts to scrapbookkitswithjules@gmail.com !

Scrap with V's 15th August Sketch Challenge

here's another layout for Scrap with V's sketch challenge. do visit the blog for more information on the sketch and how you can be a part of it!

here's my take using my stash of American Crafts papers. the layout documents my first love letter  snail mailed to me by boyfriend. this was in August 2008. he knew i love receiving letters and he was so sweet to mail me one even though he doesn't like writting very much. (: i can't tell you just how much i appreciate this man. in these 3 years+, he has done so much to take care of me. there will of course be the bickers, fights, grouchy faces etc but we have survived them and i believe they make the relationship stronger. thanks love for being there for me. (:

some pictures!

thanks for dropping by! and to all my malay friends, Selamat Hari Raya! (:
