scrapping withdrawal symptoms!

ahh my title says it all! its just work work school school! haha withdrawal symptoms! just looking at what the other scrappers have been creating really makes my hand itch to do something to.

okay, i'm going to be real diligent! i'm going to do my homework tomorrow (really need to stop this procrastination game) and scrap something or at least half of something at night ): a card or an LO, whatever, as long as i get to play with my papers, inks, ribbons, flowers. aye, you get the picture haha ;p

my sister got me this mini white birdcage from her trip to HK but the baggage handler kind of damaged the bottom part alittle so i'm fixing it with my scrappy tools. great to be putting the tools for other uses! after the cage's been fixed, alteration begins. that's if i come up with some ideas. mental block until my assignment's submitted. but definitely shabby chic or gardenish- lace, chiffon, butterflies, flowers, leaves & if i can manage to find a real fake bird- preferably a blueish robin (like i can so easily find one eh? ;p) etc.

but the best best thing that got me real happy is being able to bring some scrapping essence to a classroom of small children, well, children with some troubling family issues. not really scrapping in full swing but the previous batches used to decorate their own journals. the journals are meant for the kids to write about their feelings and for us to affirm them with replies. i suggested letting this new batch we are working with to do a patchwork cover for their journals. meaning after every session, the kid gets a special patch made from cloth or paper, they decorate it based on the theme of that session and they stick it on their cover. they collect the patches to form a book cover for their journal. at the end of the day, they bring home their decorated journal and also a good experience (:

a little background about what do- i normally do counselling and case management for families with financial issues but have recently requested to take up some child cases. so gonna get 5 kids assigned to me from the school. each 10 indiv sessions, in addition, groupwork sessions where activities are conducted and also sessions with the parents. so that makes up the STAR prog under the enhance step up prog for primary schools. oh and the scrapping fever is catching on in my office too. 2 of my female colleagues expressed their interest to scrap and they want to scrap with me. so fun! (:

okay time for me to head to bed to get myself for a diligent day ahead tml! (: blessed night (:

Happy Valentine's Day!

hehe i think my post's kind of late but still wishing everyone a day of love! valentine's i believe is definitely not reserved for couples/spouses etc but for everyone! okay so before v'day work has been busy and i was really rushing for time to create that vday d-i-y for my sunshine. first i toggled with the idea of altering that notice board but he kind of hinted that his room didnt have that much space for big items at least for now. so scrap that idea, next i was thinking of a set of coupons which includes a spa redeemption but my dear went ahead to surprise me with a couple facial treat (which we will go for, post-vday because he had his wisdom tooth out and was on mc). then i thought, how about a card? hmm until i read pooi's post on her mini idea which gave me a brainwave.

so i expanded the mini by another few inches to create my own version of a pullout mini book entitled "10 Things". In the mini i told dear the 10 things i love about him. of course the list would be endless and too much for a mini to contain, so 10 would be just nice (: i've got a few more ideas i would like to work on to- from LO ideas to altered arts. so yes, i will be busy scrapping whilst being studious. practice makes perfect, there's so much more for me to try, experiment, learn & create. bear with my photo snapping skill too ): i'm trying to get my hands to take clearer shots! (:

thankful to all who has been leaving me comments and words of encouragement. it really really means alot to me to know that you would even take time to visit the blog of a novice. hugs! so end of a wordy post & here comes the peektures! ;p

facebook group- {We Share} Scrapping Circle!

can i exclaim that i love the facebook group function? i think its an awesome tool to link people together and to coordinate events and stuff. so to fully utilise it, i've started two! groups haha! one's a private group for the foodie lovers in my office. and.... brainwave! i started a group for scrap lovers ;p okay or perhaps for now, friends in my circle who loves or are keen to start this scrappy hobby. the group's called "{We Share} Scrapping Circle". its an open facebook group btw so you can join the group if you like to. just search for the group (: reason behind the name is ofcourse to share ideas & resources! also, to link scrappers up from different backgrounds, forming lasting friendships. ofcourse its gonna take alot of time, effort and initiative but i think its worthwhile to give this a shot (: and don't worry, its a safe grp! if i do see any dodgy person lurking around the group, i'll give that person a boot!

i guess in Singapore, many a time, we get a little reserved about meeting new people, to do things together with people we have no connections with but i think in order to expand scrapping in Singapore, we have got to break that notion of keeping to people we know only. i am guilty as charged! i'm actually rather fearful about connecting with safe strangers. haha so here's to a changed me in 2011!

you know something, i dont really smile with my teeth since forever but i started to smile with teeth in 2011! okay, so random sharing i know.

sorry for this picture-less post. i'm working on the vday scrappy mini project right about now! have a blessed weekend!

*disclaimer* its okay to connect with strangers over craft discussions online but please please keep yourself safe and not come out to meet if you think there's something dodgy about the person okay? (: lol the paranoid me but i just want all of you to be well! haha

the festival that gives me every excuse to dress up & gorge myself silly on food!

Thought i would blog something more personal and non scrappy to keep this space really open and friendly! The long Chinese new year break came and was over in a blink of an eye. Am back to work and back to the routine of work and school. Been procrastinating on my first assignment and I really need to get my head into homework, urgh. But I had a pretty good Chinese new year despite the tiredness that comes from long days of visitations. First day: maternal family, second day: paternal family (relatives), third day: boyfriend’s family, 4th day: a friend’s place for cny gathering. Haven’t been very scrappy productive either, sheepish. Teehee. All I have been doing was eating, enjoying the cny and more eating. But my brain’s been working hard though, in the midst of eating, I’ve actually been thinking about card and layout designs, what I wanna do when the whole holiday mood die down. Hah! So okay, I am a wee bit productive in some sense?

Got my weekly newsletter vis email yesterday from BHG- Better Homes and Gardens and they had really cool valentine day card and layout ideas! They showcase other neat ideas for homes too so if you haven’t visited their site, it might be a fresh read (:

alrighty, here’s snippets of Chinese new year! Unfortunately, I have no food photos because I was too busy eating, yes, as usual ;p
