Big & Small, We love them all!

So now you know what's big and small? animals! (: apart from scrapping, one other passion of mine's animal welfare, inclining more towards the welfare of house pets and strays. i don't know when it all began but i know from young, i have a really soft spot for furry creatures and i would cry if i see animals abused in news reports or visually witnessing for myself people who cane their pets or hit them. i always believe animals have lives too and they feel pain. they cant talk and are helpless so they are totally relying on us to care for them. wonder why some people choose to treat animals like toys they can kick around. angers me to no end. i used to have a rabbit called Zany, but he passed on early last year. he lived till the maximum a rabbit could go so i guess that was the good part. the bad part is, his leaving left a gaping hole somewhere inside of me. i took a long time to overcome the grieving part. a couple of days ago, i contemplated scrapping an LO to remember Zany but i couldn't bring myself to do it, perhaps, part of me doesn't want to believe that Zany is gone permanently. Zany was different from other rabbits. He licked, begged for food like a dog and was very affectionate. i used to tell Zany all my troubles and i would sneak him some of my fruit if i was having some. i guess there is always a beginning and an end. but i do hope that one day, i will muster enough courage to scrap an LO specially for Zany (:

in the meantime, to rid off the sober mood here, here's my layout! photos from World Animal's Day 2010 @ SPCA with my boyfriend!

i shall leave you with a photo of my notice board. will be back soon with the finished product after valentine's day!

Moxie Fab World- Trigger Tuesday

I visited Moxie Fab World today and chanced upon their Trigger Tuesday challenge! and so i decided to have some fun participating since i have never tried one before. ;p

Basically we are to create a project based on the photo (trigger) posted in the entry. The trigger is meant to conjure some form of inspiration in us.

Photobucket

This one i'm participating in has a very straightforward colour combination- earth tones. earth or subtle tones always reminds me of down to earth-ness, stability and they reminds me of owls! wise brown silent creatures that only comes out at night. so i thought, since its my first time particpating, i should add abit of a jovial element to the card despite the very toned down feel the trigger gives. we are called to think out of the box right? ;p who says brown can't be fun? its a personal favourite colour of mine actually.

So here's my take from the photo of the brown armchair:

okay! now i should probably head to bed, down with the flu bug. hope i get better tomorrow! blessed night everyone, thank you for dropping by here (:

Whisper Sweet Nothings

how my table looked before working on my LO. and yes you can imagine how messy my room became after that. i actually dozed off on my bed before cleaning up ;p

Photobucket

Promised another LO initially but churned out an LO based on another set of photos instead. the other one's still work in progress!

I'm submitting this one for an ezine call under the speech bubbles theme. hehe, enjoyed doing this LO thoroughly and it is my first time hand stitching paper and making accordian flowers, fun! still very amateur i know, learning learning (:

school's reopening in about 2 weeks time so its going to be back to work and school plus attachment and assignments but i'm not going to let that get me down or stop me from taking time out to scrap that's for sure. i'll manage with God's strength (: once this semester's over, i wld be graduating in Oct 2011 this year, in my gown and my motar board going upstage to receive my degree in social work. very very excited, anticipating that day to come! yes, i'll finish this race victoriously in Christ! no matter how discouraged and tired i sometimes feel, i'm still proud, really proud to be a social worker deep inside of me. hoping to go one step further by doing a course in arts therapy but will pray over it and see where He leads me. (:

blessed night everyone, i had a good weekend, hope you did too (:

some reflections & my new tool kit!

so thrilled to finally get my hands on a making memories tool kit. i first used it in a class held at paper market. very useful tools to have at home. was spending time admiring each tool and viewing online demo videos ytd night. haha, yes silly me i know. :p
spotted another ezine call that i would be working towards, deadline's 30 Jan. a few categories interest me involving grids and speech bubbles. probably gonna scrap another two LOs this weekend, going to be a stay home scrappy sat for me, and i'm definitely not complaining for this kind of quality rest.

and if you're wondering why i'm not out there spending time with kc, he's mugging really hard for his final exams, preparing in advance (: . we're graduating at the same time so that's really cool for me. plans, so much plans. was telling him how productive my holiday break has been and the best thing that happen during this holiday was discovering how much scrapping has changed by life. i'm actually not so angsty anymore when life hands me rocks instead of mashmellows. when i scrap, i feel like i'm releasing and expelling the bad vibes and those good vibes just automatically replaces the bad ones. i can't put into words how that experience is but its changing me in a whole lot of ways. i feel more confident, i feel like i am actually good in something, i feel happy and motivated!

actually i didnt start scrapping only recently. i remember it all began when the made with love shop was opened at plaza sing. i love the decorations, the storefront. i was curious so i went in and was awed by the lovely materials, papers etc. so in 2008, i rembr i first did this framed thing with scrap materials for my boyfriend for our 1 month anni. then i did this mini book for him for our valentine's day. only on special occassions will i scrap or make something. until i decided to attend a basic class, i kind of won that class in a papermarket lucky dip haha. attended the class, got hooked and so here i am now. (:

the feeling's awesome to discover a whole community of scrappers! its really mindblowing to surf blog after blog of local and overseas scrappers, to know the different maufacturers, to be so inspired by every little detail and experience now.

i can ramble on and on haha but i will spare you the agony of a very wordy entry. ;p promise you more pictures will be up after sat (:

thank you for your time here, leave me some comments, i would love to know you!

first ever feature & a non-scrap opportunity!

Woke up early this morning to an email that made me grin from ear to ear! about 1 month plus ago, i participated in a scrapbook ezine call with Scrapbook News & Review. Submitted an LO to try out, I would say partly for fun because it was a first time experiencing something like this. This morning, I received an email to inform me that my LO was selected to be featured in an issue in Jan! Am very thankful because I am really a newbie here, still learning, trudging along and stuff.

They gave me a badge to put in my blog here and its really an awesome feeling to feel regconized for your work (: really thankful and it really encouraged me to press on and press in on this scrapping passion!

One more thing that cheered me up alot today was an opportunity presented to me. until more details are released i won't be able to reveal much but it involves singing, cutting an album and most importantly God (: might be part of an album production- singing, if things goes well. nothing's confirmed of course but its really my desire to outreach through worship. God knows the desires of my heart and i will place this opportunity unto His hands and let Him lead (:

will be back soon with more updates. take care!

Monday's Child

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child must work for a living,
But the child that's born on the Sabbath day,
Is fair and wise and good and gay.

More layouts to follow! The next one's entitled "Big & Small, We love them all!" go make a guess what or who the big and small are? ((:

back with an LO and a Card!

last week was a mad rush at work, trying to meet deadlines and all, the down-side. but the up-side was i spent 2 nights scrapping. scrapping itself is really more than just a hobby. its also therapeutic for me in some sense, it really takes me away from the hustle and bustle. (: was reading up on scrapbook therapy and chanced upon a site where this lady actually did a thesis on scrapbooking as a counselling tool. but you've got to pay for that thesis though. well, i don't know how scrapbooking actually impacted others but for me, it really draws out personality that i have not discovered before. i will blog about that when i get my head right where i want it- the reflective mode. but for now, let's just say, scrapping has become part of me, an identity of some sort (:

okay for the pictures:

i'm really happy with this LO because i got to use some really old materials that i've been storing for a long time and had no idea how to put it to use initially!

scrapped a card, something fast and easy to make:

whilst working on this card, i realised i havent got the sponge pieces to apply distress ink on my paper and brainwave! i took out pieces of cotton swabs? those used for facials and for applying toner on our faces, as applicators for the distress ink (old paper). surprisingly, i realise i prefer using these cotton wool thingys rather than the sponge as it gave me more flexibility and the outcome was more natural, the way i wanted the paper to look. i actually experimented the blending of two distress ink colours using the cotton, and i love it! (sorry i haven't snapped a photo of my experiment. ;p) gonna go get some cotton balls to experiment with the next time.

back to work now! gonna participate in 2 challenges, have never participated in any before so its really exciting! believe such participation will help me expand my scrapping experiences, that's for sure. (:
